The Raft of the MedusaThe Raft of the Medusa was painted in between 1818-1819 by Theodore Gericault, it is also the second most popular painting at Louvre Museum in Paris, France. The beautiful painting was actually painted by true events as it depicts a violent scene of survivors getting washed up on a small wooden platform. The Medusa was a real ship that was suppose to go to Senegal in 1815. However the ship went over the coast of Mauritania, and about 133 sailers died by the crash or by going insane and eating each other. Only 15 survived.
